Find lasting relief from a constantly runny or stuffy nose with RhinAer®. At Surgical Associates Northwest, our experienced, highly skilled ENTs use this in-office treatment to calm the nerves causing chronic rhinitis, helping reduce drainage, congestion, and post-nasal drip so you can breathe easier and get back to feeling like yourself.
Relieve Chronic Nasal Drainage
RhinAer is an in-office treatment used to relieve chronic rhinitis, a condition that causes an ongoing runny nose, congestion, and post-nasal drip. At Surgical Associates Northwest, our ENTs use gentle radiofrequency energy to calm the overactive nerves inside your nose that trigger these symptoms. By treating the root cause of rhinitis rather than masking symptoms, RhinAer can provide lasting relief without relying on daily sprays or medications.
What Does Rhinaer Treat?
RhinAer treats chronic rhinitis, a condition where the inside of your nose stays irritated and overactive for long periods of time. This ongoing inflammation can cause daily symptoms that don’t fully improve with sprays, allergy medications, or other conservative treatments.
Common symptoms that may be treated with RhinAer include:
- Persistent runny nose
- Ongoing post-nasal drip
- Chronic nasal congestion
- Frequent throat clearing
- Nasal itching or irritation
- Sneezing without a clear trigger

- Reduced runny nose and post-nasal drip

Your Rhinaer Experience
Your RhinAer experience begins with a one-on-one consultation with one of our ENTs at Surgical Associates Northwest. You’ll talk through your symptoms, how long they’ve been affecting you, and what treatments you’ve already tried. Your doctor will examine the inside of your nose and confirm whether chronic rhinitis is the source of your symptoms. If RhinAer is appropriate, the procedure will be explained clearly so you know exactly what to expect.
On the day of treatment, your nose is gently numbed with local anesthesia. Your ENT then places the RhinAer stylus inside the nasal passage and delivers radiofrequency energy to calm the overactive posterior nasal nerve. The procedure is performed entirely in the office and takes less than 30 minutes. Afterward, you’re monitored briefly, then sent home with simple care instructions. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
RhinAer FAQs
How Is Rhinaer Different From Nasal Sprays or Medications?
RhinAer treats the underlying nerve that triggers chronic rhinitis rather than temporarily masking symptoms. While sprays and medications can help in the short term, their effects wear off when you stop using them. RhinAer is performed to calm overactive nerve signals, which may lead to longer-lasting relief without daily medication use.
Is the Rhinaer Procedure Painful?
Most patients tolerate RhinAer very well. Your nose is numbed with local anesthesia before treatment, so you may feel pressure or warmth but not sharp pain.
How Long Does the Rhinaer Procedure Take?
The procedure is performed entirely in the office and typically takes less than 30 minutes. You’ll spend a short time afterward being monitored before heading home the same day.
When Will You Notice Improvement in Symptoms?
Some patients notice gradual improvement within a few weeks, while others see noticeable relief over several months. Symptom improvement continues as the treated nerves settle.
